The new $80 million Clearwater Marine Aquarium will boast five times the space for guests with new retail, food court, and most importantly, a new 1.5 million gallon dolphin habitat. The expansion was design by Fisher and Associates, LLC, and the general contractor Creative Contractors. Rhyno Glass, a leading Florida contractor, specializing in high-end, interior, and exterior commercial glazing, was the glazing contractor. Rhyno installed the Kawneer IR501 hurricane-resistant storefront system, the Kawneer Trifab 450 glazing system with a 1-3/4” sightline, and the SaftiFirst GPX fire-rated hurricane glazing system.
“it was an exciting project to be part of,” says Wyatt Castellvi, president, Rhyno Glass. “our design team worked with Fisher and Associates architects to select the right glazing systems and provide the details and CAD drawings for the project. Our installation team worked closely with Creative Contractors in coordinating and insuring the glazing install was completed on time and met the highest quality standards.” The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a 501 non-profit organization. It is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured marine animals, public education, conservation, and research. The aquarium is located at 249 Windward Passage, Clearwater, FL 33767. For more information, visit www.cmaquarium.org.
